While blood tests or physical examinations are not necessary for marriages in the U.S. Virgin Islands, our courts do require the completion of two forms the Application for Marriage License and the License and Certificate of Marriage.
Both forms MUST BE TYPEWRITTEN
and completed according to exact
specifications or the V.I. Superior Court WILL NOT ACCEPT them! If youre not too handy with a typewriter, you can fax your information to us and well be happy to type your documents for you and submit them to the court as part of our service to you.
A $100 certified check or money order made payable to the Territorial Court of the Virgin Islands must be forwarded to Sunsation Weddings, with the completed forms, and a certified copy of your original divorce decree(s) or death certificate(s), if applicable.
Documents must be sent via FedEx or U.S. Postal Service Express Mail with a little note stating your wedding information to:

DIRECTIONS-Please read carefully and follow precisely!
APPLICATION FOR MARRIAGE LICENSE:
- This form is to be FULLY completed by both applicants.
- Please be sure to include your full physical address to include zip code under "Permanent Residence" and
your city and state under "Usual Residence."
- Abbreviations of any kind are not to be used. Please spell out middle names and months when applicable.
- In
the "Parents" section, put both your
parents' current names on the "Present
Name" lines (if deceased, please
indicate in parenthesis)
- In
the "Parents" section, put your mothers'
maiden (last) name only on the "Maiden
Name" lines
- Disregard the area concerning the eight-day waiting period for the issuance of your license. This section in non-applicable to you as you are required to forward your forms to Sunsation Weddings at least two months in advance.
- Both applicants must sign this document.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATE OF MARRIAGE:
- The groom must complete lines 1-7b. The bride must complete lines 8a-14b.
- The groom must sign on line 15. The bride must sign on line 16.
- Both bride and groom must complete lines 27-30.
- You are not required to complete lines 17-26.
- Remember not to use any abbreviations or initials. Also, spell out the month in lines 4b and 11b.
- Remember to include your full physical address to include your zip code on lines 3a and 10a.
DIVORCE DECREES AND DEATH CERTIFICATES:
- Applicants who have been previously divorced must supply the V.I. Territorial Court with a
certified copy
of the original divorce decree. This decree must have the signature of the judge that granted your divorce, and it must also include the issuing courts raised seal.
- Applicants who are widowed are required to supply the V.I. Territorial Court a
certified copy of the late
spouse’s death certificate.
- Sunsation Weddings will not guarantee licensing for applications received after the deadline or for non-certified divorce decrees or death certificates. (Note: Certified does not mean notarized. It means being stamped from the court in which you were divorced.)

FOR EUROPEAN CLIENTS!
To legalize your wedding abroad, an Apostille is required.
Sunsation Weddings can handle this requirement and have it mailed directly to your home for an additional $50.00.

HELPFUL HINTS:
-
Print two (2) copies of your forms, overnight or express the originals to Sunsation Weddings
and bring the other copy with you.

Also bring your picture ID, i.e.,
driver's license or passport. You will need to present them to the Clerk of the Court before your marriage license is issued.

Territorial Court hours are Monday
through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Atlantic Standard Time. Saturday hours
are available between 10:00am and 12
Noon. The court is also available by
special appointment only on Sundays from
9:30 am - 11:30 am for an additional $150 charge. The U.S. Virgin Islands have many local holidays. However, the court can
also accommodate you for one (1) hour only for a $150 charge on certain local holidays.
