All islands boast sun, sand and sea. What makes getting married, on St. Thomas so special from other islands in the Caribbean?
-
Thats easy! First of all, St. Thomas is a U.S. Territory. This means that we have the same rights and privileges of the U.S. Mainland and your marriage is protected under U.S. laws. Secondly, English is our main language therefore, communication is a breeze! Thirdly, we are a duty-free port and we use U.S. currency. No currency conversions to worry about! Additionally, there are no special restrictions or requirements for getting married here in the U.S. Virgin Islands
so, why go anywhere else?

-
Were coming off the cruise ship for one day only, is there a minimum length of stay required before we can have an island ceremony?
-
Not a problem! In the U.S. Virgin Islands, there is no residency or waiting period requirement for weddings.
-
-
-
Are we required to take a blood test in order to get married in the U.S. Virgin Islands?
Absolutely not! The U.S. Virgin Islands does not require you to take a blood nor a physical test.-
-
-
- Can we have our wedding on other islands in the U.S. V.I.?
-
At Sunsation Weddings, we specialize in St. Thomas weddings; however, we are also able to arrange weddings on St. John and a private island.-

-
- What forms do we need to fill out?
In the U.S. Virgin Islands, you are required to complete an Application for Marriage License and the License and Certificate of Marriage forms. You can download them directly from this page (just click on the name of the form). Upon completion, all you need to do is mail them directly to Sunsation Weddings
along with a check or money order
for $100.00 payable to the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands along with all other necessary legal documents as required by the court (see below) and well take care of the rest! If youre not too handy with a typewriter, you can fax the information to us, where well type the documents for you and submit them to the court when your payment is received, as part of our service to you.
Remember: When you
arrive on St. Thomas, you will have
to sign your marriage license at the
Clerk of the Court and pick it up
personally. You will be required to
show photo identification, so don’t
forget to walk with your driver’s
license or passport.
DECREES: If you were divorced, you will need to send a certified copy of the original divorce decree that has been stamped certified and signed by the presiding judge at your divorce. Our Clerk of the Court WILL NOT accept the copy if it has been merely notarized.
The raised seal from the issuing
court must be visible! If your
wedding was contested or granted by
default, the divorce must be final
and dated no less than 30 days prior
to your wedding date. Additionally,
if you are widowed, a stamped,
certified copy of your late spouse’s
death certificate must also be
forwarded for submittal to the
Superior Court.-

-
How soon should we mail out the forms to you?
Our courts require an eight (8) day waiting period for issuing marriage licenses.
We require that you mail in your documents
directly to our office no later than two (2) months prior to your wedding to allow for unexpected delays at the court.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
While our islands are always sun shiny bright, Mother Caribbean does, from time to time dispense showers of blessings. Usually, our showers dont last too long and were often able to continue the ceremony. However, if she ends up being a little too generous with her blessings, Sunsation Weddings will be happy to reschedule your ceremony during your stay.

When is hurricane season in the Virgin Islands?
According to meteorologists, a hurricane is most likely to occur in the Caribbean during the summer months of June to October. Keep in mind that hurricanes are not a normal occurrence each year, but when they are imminent, modern technological advances such as the Doppler Radar are very successful in detecting and tracking hurricanes and other storm conditions. When making your wedding plans, just be sure to keep up to date on our current and forecasted weather conditions. I find www.wunderground.com to be an excellent resource for weather information not only for the Caribbean, but the U.S. Mainland as well.-

What is the weather like in the U.S. Virgin Islands?
On our hottest day, the temperature outside can shoot up to a humid 89º Fahrenheit. Fortunately for us, we are cooled by our ever frequent tropical sea breezes. As we are located near the Equator, we never experience freezing cold, but during the winter months, it has been known to dip to a "low" 74º Fahrenheit at night time.-

What kind of wedding attire do you recommend?
As you will be in the islands, our culture is a little less conservative and laid back. However, your wedding attire is entirely up to you. From classic gowns and tuxedos to casual silk shirts and linen shorts
the skys the limit. My only suggestion is that you dress for comfort as the U.S. Virgin Islands do tend to get hot and keep in mind the sand and water if you want to have your wedding at the beach!
- Let Sunsation Weddings make your St. Thomas wedding absolutely
SUNSATIONAL!
